Addiction, Codependency & Intervention Specialist
Sharon is a ‘seasoned veteran’, working in the addiction field since 1989. Early in her career, Sharon developed resilience, compassion and empathy working on the ‘front lines’ with Federal Corrections, the Intensive Youth & Child Care Resource and various out-patient addiction clinics on the Vancouver Downtown East Side. Today, decades later, she specializes in the treatment of those affected by addiction in a loved one. She describes her work with the team at Interventions Canada as the most rewarding aspect of her career.
An active member of the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation since 1997, she maintains accreditations as an International Certified Alcohol & Drug Counsellor (ICADC) and Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor (CCAC). In 2014, she earned her accreditation as a Certified Intervention Professional (CIP) with the Pennsylvania Certification Board.
Sharon is familiar with the Johnson, Systemic and ARISE Models of Intervention and proficient in various therapeutic approaches, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Contemplative Counselling, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention. Studying with the Satir Institute since 2004, Sharon is an Advanced Level 2 Satir Therapist – a practitioner of Transformational Systemic Family Therapy.
Sharon works in private practice in North Vancouver with individuals, couples and families offering a full range of Addiction Recovery Services, including Intervention Services, Counselling, Recovery Coaching, Assessment, Referral, Continuing Care Programs, Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention, Educational Workshops, Spiritual Transformation, Inspirational Speaking and Consultation. Sharon also works with families on the clinical team of a Private Residential Addiction Treatment Centre, where she witnesses the miracle of recovery for addicts and their loved ones from the impacts of addiction.
In long term recovery since 1984, Sharon draws on the wisdom of decades of personal and family recovery and professional experience with addiction and trauma. She is ‘living the dream’ and motivated to inspire others with the hope that restoration is possible. Hope that love prevails. Hope that dignity can be restored. Hope that recovery is possible!
